Mae Salong Restaurant @ Sungai Petani, Kedah

Henry Tan | 8:39 AM | | | |
Went for a seminar in Sungai Petani.
Spontaneously we came to this restaurant.

Mae Salong Restaurant!

Isn't it a special name?
It is actually a name of a village in northernmost of Thailand.
And it means "Hill of Peace".

Peaceful isn't it? =D

Served with the appetizer - Ikan Bilis with Peanut.

There's actually a guy on top of the tree getting "tuak" I think. =D

Tuak
an alcoholic beverage made from the undeveloped flower of the coconut palm

Since there are only three of us,
so we could only ordered a few dishes.

Thai Style Lala! Spicier than it looks!

Kana, the gravy makes it very tasty.

Tom Yum Seafood - I think still okay only.

Ikan pari bakar - RM17 separate stall from the restaurant

RM46 for the other 3 dishes with drinks.

Well, this place should be visited at around sunset or night.
Then you will be truly fascinated by the lighting and the landscapes of the surroundings.

Taste: 7/10 (Above average)
Price: 7/10 (RM63 for 3 person! Quite okay)
Environment: 9/10 (I think they spend a lot on the landscape!)
Service: 7/10 (Average!)
Average: 7.5/10

I will visit back another time especially at sunset or night.

Who wanna join me? =DDD

It is like a hidden treasure in Sungai Petani.
Whereby you have to go all the way into a kampung.

  6. Ya...where is this? I've been to Sg Petani but I never know of this place. Nice place, nice food and reasonably priced. When are you going again? When I go Penang, I'll ask you to take (drive) me there - my daughter's in SP...

  7. P.S.
I think the guy is getting toddy. Tuak is the fermented rice wine of the ethnic/native people in Sarawak.

  8. 我去过两次,而且都是在晚上。晚上的灯光很漂亮,而且人群不少。
    tuak呢,我老妈都会在槟城“中南”买来做huat kuih。tuak真的很huat kuih味。
