Eastin Hotel Penang is coming out with their new theme buffet lunch "Wonderful Indonesia" to welcome August! This buffet lunch will be available from 1st - 31st August 2015 on weekdays from 12 pm to 2.30 pm. Malaysian are quite familiar with Indonesian cuisine, many would confused with Malay cuisine, are you able to differentiate them? Well, let me show you the highlight of Indonesian cuisines at Eastin Hotel Penang.

Wonderful Indonesia Buffet

Top: Nasi Goreng Ikan  |  Beef Rendang Jawa
Bottom: Pecel Lele (Fried Catfish)  |  Perkadel (Fried Patties)

I love Croquette! Perkadel is Indonesian fried patties similar to Croquette made with potatoes, minced meat, and corn. Perkadel is one of our favourite dishes of this buffet, it is deep fried into golden brown colour with soft texture and full of flavour.

Nasi Goreng Ikan is Indonesian style fish fried rice, it has a good texture and flavour, I think it is still worth my stomach space for buffet :D However, if you prefer Nasi Putih or white rice, there will be available too.

Satay Ayam is a very popular delicacy in Indonesia. It is chicken skewer which best served with special spicy peanut sauce. Their Satay Ayam was grilled into perfection, it was juicy and well-marinated.

Sayur Lontong dengan Sambal Ikan Bilis is assorted vegetables cooked with coconut milk, traditional spices and lontong (rice cake). This is a very authentic Indonesian cuisine, it was special in taste and go well with a bowl of rice.

Pasembur? Nope, this is Gado-gado, a type of traditional Indonesian Salad. It is comprising of vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, crackers and fried tofu, served with a peanut sauce dressing.

Eastin Hotel Penang is serving 2 types of Traditional Indonesian Soups. Bakso is chicken meatball soup served with noodles while Buntut Soup is Oxtail soup cooked with assorted vegetables. I personally kinda fancy their Bakso, although I don't usually like clear soup.

Okay, how could you skip Indonesian dessert right? Es Teler is Indonesian fruit cocktail made with avocado, coconut meat, jackfruit served with coconut milk. It was creamy yet the sweetness was just right to our liking, a refreshing dessert indeed.

Another must-try dessert is Pisang Goreng dengan Coklat dan Keju. The chef has added some new elements into the traditional Pisang Goreng or Deep fried banana, it is served with cheese and chocolate! I was surprised that it actually taste good, the bananas were deep fried into perfection with the crunchiness on the outer layer and soft inside.

Yellow Lips @ Lebuh Pantai, Penang

Henry Tan | 2:21 PM | | 2 Comments so far
Hello! It has been a while since the last post. This time #IBlogMyWay introduce you to another new cafe in town - Yellow LipsYellow Lips is an Aussie and Japanese cuisine restaurant located at the more secluded spot of Beach Street, which is actually replacing the previous cafe - The Mangoes cafe. Ample car park available along the roadsides, what best is that after 5pm the car park will be FOC :D

Yellow Lips - the Aussie & Japanese Restaurant

The interior of Yellow Lips is remaining the same as the previous cafe, with the cozy and comfy dining area. If you are going with a big group of friends, it is recommended to make reservation as the space is quite limited.

Yellow Lips offering high quality coffee. The boss their 90 and 92 Pour Over Coffees, the numbers are representing the mark they gained at the Golden Medal Coffee Tasting. Unfortunately, none of us are coffee person, we only prefer coffee with milk and sugar >.<

Okay, here come something we love, Frappe! Other than coffee, Yellow Lips has numeral types of nice Frappe. Their Frappes are not overly creamy and sweetened, among all of the Frappe, Green Tea, Swtizco and Roselle Frappe are the most outstanding ones. I had Swtizco Frappe that night, I love its bitter sweet and thick chocolate flavour <3

Yellow Lips serving both Japanese and Aussie cuisines. Let me start with my all time favourite Japanese food! I have to praise the beautiful presentation of their foods, the colourful dishes make me happy :D Tekka Don is rice dish topped with tuna sashimi, the chef brilliantly combine tuna sashimi salad with raw tuna slices make the whole dish bountiful, and the overall texture has become smoother with the quail egg!

Tekka Don - RM 25

Bara Chirashi is rice dish topped with a variety of sashimi such as salmon, tuna, and ikura. The simplicity of the dish makes the quality of the cut and the freshness of the sashimi the important points. The freshness of their sashimi is undeniable but in overall it was a bit dry to our preference. I likeTekka Don more.

Smoked Kamo Chirashi is a rice dish topped with smoked duck slices, it is not a common dish you could find in any other Japanese restaurant in Penang. The smoked duck is thick but tender, very well marinated, and the poached egg was done beautifully. I am not someone who really fond of duck but I like this dish.

Unagi Don is rice dish topped with a considerably big piece of eel grilled in kabayaki style, similar to teriyaki. This is one of the most common Japanese dishes, Yellow Lips Unagi Don is nothing much surprising with standard taste, but I think the price is cheaper than elsewhere, as the price is inclusive GST with no additional charges.

Unagi Don - RM 28

The presentation of Sea Tiger with Japanese Fried Rice is just so lovely. The capsicum is stuffed with Japanese fried rice served with a Tiger Prawn and greens. I personally not fancy the fried rice as I think it is a bit dry and less flavourful to my liking but the prawn is good.

Alright, let us move on to their Aussie cuisines! Soft Shell Crab Burger is the signature dish of Yellow Lips, the selling point is their Huge soft shell crab, this is the biggest I've seen so far! The burger goes well with their homemade sauces, and even their potato wedges were delicately done. Again, their Aussie cuisine is also nicely presented, it is a very fulfilling dish with reasonable price!

Lamb Shank Croissant Sandwich is a recommended dish as well. Their Lamb Shank is very well seasoned and marinated, it was tender and without the scary smell. It paired well with their homemade sauces. Henry Darling loves this dish a lot, he said this is something he would come back for it again.

Lamb Shank Croissant Sandwich - RM 22

Yellow Lips Squid Ink Pasta Carbonara is an unique dish, the chef uses crab meat for the carbonara instead of the commonly used bacon. I'm not so sure whether it is Aussie dish or Japanese dish as you can see ikura in the pasta. I have tasted some other squid ink pasta elsewhere, but they are less flavourful to my preference. So, I think it is a good idea to use a creamy carbonara sauce for the squid ink pasta, it tastes so much better.
