You will experience gliding from tree to tree through the rainforest, just like the Colugo! Trained Rangers will escort visitors to ensure their safety and provide nature interpretation for a better appreciation of nature.

Bae and I went early in the morning since effective 1st April 2019, there is a Sunrise_Sunset Promotion ongoing where the train ticket is only RM3 per pax round trip from 6.30am - 8.00am and 7.30pm - 9.45pm. Otherwise, we would have to pay RM12 per pax during the normal hours.

Upon arriving Penang Hill, we went to the registration hut in front Cliff Cafe a.k.a Astaka Bukit Bendera, the food court in Penang Hill. The person in charge at the hut would then arrange us to take buggy to send us to the entrance of The Habitat.

A short walk from the entrance of The Habitat, we then arrived at their Information Centre/Cafe, a futuristic-looking building. ๐Ÿ˜‚ This is where you can get buy all their merchandise as well as grab a quick bite with a coffee.

Since bae and I were there for the Colugo Zip, we proceed to the form filling part at the counter. To experience the Colugo Zip, we were required to sign off the waiver and release of liability form. Basically just the usual thing to acknowledge the risk of the activity and waive all liability from The Habitat. ๐Ÿ˜†

The person in charge at the counter was kind enough to remind us to go to the toilet first, as there's no toilet on top of the tree once we go up. And you certainly would not hope to "let it go" when you are gliding tree to tree.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Along with our ticket, we were given the bandana to cover our hair and more importantly, hygiene purpose when using the safety helmet. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

The first staircase on the right after the Information Centre will then lead us to the Colugo Zip. We were quite lost at first without any signage as we didn't realized that the banner actually meant to tell us to go up from the staircase. ๐Ÿ˜…

At the top of the staircase, there's a small house keeping all the harness gears for the zipline. There are both male and female rangers there ready to help. All you have to do is just to stand there and they will set it up for you. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We were given a locker to keep our belongings. Since I wanted to bring my camera along to take photo, the ranger was kind enough to provide me an extended pouch. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

After that, the two assigned rangers introduced themselves to us and follow by rules and regulations, as well as some simple demonstration. If you read from my previous experience in Escape, you would know that I am actually afraid of height. I was so scared that I even asked the ranger if I could try once at their demonstration area! (at least let me try before I go up to tree top right!) ๐Ÿ˜‚

Unfortunately, they said no. But they reassured me that it would be safe and fun. Following their procedure, one will be in front one will be covering at the back. And even right before we depart, they did another final check on our harness gear too! So kudos to the rangers! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

The first zipline of Colugo Zip is actually the Honeymoon Zip whereby two persons can go side by side. Like the name suggests, bae and I held each other hand tightly and completed the zip line together. But I supposed it's more like supporting each other to conquer the fear we had given it was the first zipline. ๐Ÿ˜

Including in the Colugo Zip, there is also an abseiling to be done from a super tall tree. Different from my expectation, all we need to do is just hold on the rope and rangers will slowly drop us down. Trust me, the difficult part is where you have to step out from the platform and make the leap! ๐Ÿ˜‚

After that once you know you can trust the harshness and rangers to keep you safe to the ground, then just enjoy the view of surrounding! Half way the rangers would even asked you to let go of your hands to challenge your courage as well as for photo taking!

It was our first zipline experience together given that there is not many zipline in Malaysia and bae is definitely not the adventurous type of people. ๐Ÿ˜† Nevertheless we did this together!

After the Honeymoon Zip, there were 4 other ziplines to complete as well but basically just glide across from one tree to another. One taller than another or longer in distance. Along the way while resting on the platform, rangers would share with us their experiences as well as some knowledge of the nature habitat.

The type of tree, their traits and the ecosystem etc were all well explained by the rangers! Certainly a fun learning trip on our mother earth. ๐Ÿ˜

The rangers also shared with us on how the platform were built on the tree without hurting the tree itself. Smart tree hugging technique! Rangers told us that from time to time there would be maintenance and inspection to ensure the safety of both human and the tree!

After the 5 ziplines and 1 abseiling, we went to the rope bridge. Stepping on the rope bridge is not the scariest part, but looking down is! But once you took a few steps then there isn't much to be scared of. ๐Ÿ’ช

Overall, I think it was a great experience to challenge our limit, gain more knowledge of the mother nature as well as spending time with the love one. Truly thanks to our two friendly rangers and sorry I forgotten their name as I dragged too long to write this post.

So wait no more!
I dare you to challenge yourself! ๐Ÿ˜

CNY 2015 Gartien Pineapple Cakes

Henry Tan | 11:01 PM | 10 Comments so far
This year Gartien offers Chinese New Year Limited Edition of pineapple cakes! Gartien has been so successful that every year they would come out with special edition for the festive season. Check out last year CNY 2014 Gartien Peony here. However, this was my first time to visit to Gartien new shop in Penang road.

CNY Limited Edition 2015 Gartien

Gartien - Free Car Park
With the help of darling, she went back to my old post to find out this Free Car Park map. It's quite easy to find the Free Car Park since it is actually the car park of Hotel Central. But since the car park is located behind that row of shop houses, you might want to drive slowly to look for the entrance of Lorong Bertam on your left.

Once you parked your car, do remember to bring along the ticket to Gartien. (1) From the car park, the fastest way would be walking thru Hotel Central using their back door. (2) Then it would leads you to their front door where you will see Guardian Lion (็Ÿณ็…). (3) Turn left at the Hotel Central front door and walk further down. (4) Among all the old shop houses, you will notice a new modern Gartien.

Gartien - Entrance
The entrance of Gartien could be easily found with the light bulbs beautifully hanging down from the ceiling. The bunting is also very catchy placing right beside the door!

Coincidentally captured this pretty lady that sitting inside while I took the photo! Hopefully she would not think that I was stalking her. (>.<)

Gartien - Front counter
It's a simple and spacious shop. You will be greeted by this lady at the counter upon entering the shop. All their products could be seen easily at the counter.

Gartien - Transparency view of the kitchen
Ms Miki told us that they had changed into new modern kitchen which is more efficient and a lot more cleaner! I would say this is a good change! In the recent years, many shops and even factory such as the bread factories were ordered to closed down due to the failure to comply to cleanliness level. The transparency of their kitchen definitely could increase the level of confidence from the consumers.

Gartien - 2014 PIE Award
At the counter, Gartien showcasing their 2014 Pinnacle International Excellence award under Emerging Class for Tourism Souvenir! So yes!

Don't tell anyone you have been to Penang
if you did not bring this back as souvenir!

Gartien - CNY Limited Edition Gartien Pineapple Cakes - RM45
The Chinese New Year Limited Edition Gartien Pineapple Cakes consists of 10 pieces in each box. This year their box is in Tiffany Blue color, which is quite trendy! I guess they are trying to open up their market to younger generation too!

Gartien - Paper Bag
No matter what you have changed, never forget to keep the precious tradition! Red is still a must-have color while a short wishing message was added creatively. In year 2015, a box of Chinese New Year Limited Edition Pineapple cakes costs RM45 for normal price. The selling period would be starting 12/1/2015 to 16/2/2015.

Gartien - Handmade Pineapple Jam
Well, if you compare side by side between Gartien pineapple jam and normal one, you would see that it is totally different. Gartien pineapple jam uses ๆฐดๆ™ถ้ป„ๆขจ (crystal pineapple?) which is relatively sweet! Unlike conventional pineapple jam, Gartien uses pure fresh pineapple without using other chemical or preservative, which you could still see the pineapple chunks.

While the big portion of grilled white fish matched well with the sour lemon butter sauce.
Plus, it is at seaside what! Of course eat fish! LOL
