Araluen Botanic Park @ Roleystone, Western Australia

What to do in Perth? Where in Perth for sightseeing? Perth's hidden garden - Araluen Botanic Park is the answer! In our Day 3 Perth Trip, we headed to Araluen Botanic Park which is located just 35km from the Perth City in Roleystone.

It was on a Sunday where 3 couples (Eng finally joined us!) went for a picnic at the Araluen Botanic Park. We woke up early in the morning to prepare breakfast as well as the food for picnic. Since we rented a small car for the first few days, so we had to split into two cars - the girls' and the boys'. The funny part was... none of us brought the food along for picnic! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

We reached at 11am where the place already filled with people. We were lucky to get ourselves a carpark right away. Each of us paid $15 for the admission fee at the entrance. Araluen Botanic Park is a lot better from my expectation as I was comparing it to the one we been to in Penang.

During our visit - October 2018, Araluen Botanic Park was having "It's Yates Springtime" where we got to discover Perth's biggest display of Tulips and other Springtime bulbs. While exploring the winding pathways we were delighted by the Camellias adding to the massed plantings of colour. The botanic park is quite big and it took us 2 hours to walk around.

The Grove of the Unforgotten still remains today, built in memory of 88 Young Australia League members killed in World War I. The Grove is a series of terraces, framed by pencil pines that form the shape of a lyre, the international symbol of music. Water cascades down the terraces to the pool of reflection.

Everyone were enjoying the cool breeze and the warm sunshine while sitting down on the green grass, which you can never find in Penang Botanic Garden. Since we left the food for picnic at home, so we can only joined them, sat there and watched the others eat enviously. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The visit to Araluen Botanic Park reminded me of my high school years where I was in the "Kumpulan Keceriaan Sekolah" School Beautification Unit or something like that. Planting is not easy at all, so do follow the park guidelines, please do not pick plants or flowers

  1. Look at how they smile
to the camera! Okay maybe they do not do it on purpose but given their friendly nature, it was rather easy to capture a smiling.
