Kitchen Twenty Three @ Batu Maung Penang

Henry Tan | 2:00 PM | |
Hello! Happy Labor Day people! Today I'm gonna introduce you to another new restaurant - Kitchen Twenty Three, but this time it is located down south of Penang, Batu Maung! Well, this is definitely a good news for those working in Free Industrial Zone at Bayan Lepas Penang. Trust me, we always run out of idea on where to eat! So this is it!

Kitchen Twenty Three at Batu Maung Penang

Kitchen Twenty Three @ Batu Maung Penang
Kitchen Twenty Three - Located right beside Dinas Nasi Kandar
Kitchen Twenty Three is quite easy to find actually as it is located beside Dinas Nasi Kandar, whereby they are facing the main road. But, we never know its existence even I have always turned in the road beside Dinas. Perhaps Dinas signboard is way too big and bright while Kitchen Twenty Three's a bit too dark and small. Well, whatever, just take Dinas as your landmark! LOL

Kitchen Twenty Three - Current Promotion
We went there to review for their Set Dinner Promotion, whereby per person is around RM15. Of course, the more the merrier because it gets cheaper too! XD Personally I think RM15 for a set dinner is quite worth it, you know, especially after a long day of work and you just wish to enjoy yourself at a comfortable restaurant.

Set Dinner Promotion
Main Course + Garlic Bread +
French Fries + Free Flow Ice Lemon Tea
for only
RM15 - 1 person
RM29 - 2 persons
RM57 - 4 persons
Add on RM3 for Soup of the Day or Coleslaw

Well, for the set dinner, the main course is limited to choose one out from 12 courses. So some of the food you see below might not be under the Set Dinner Promotion, but you could still get it in the menu via a la carte.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Drinks
Since we wanted to try different drinks instead of just Iced Lemon Tea, we ordered Soya Bean with Cendol and Gula Malacca (RM5), Three Layer Tea (RM5) and Lemon Tasty (RM5). For my Three Layer Tea it was just okay and nothing to shout about, probably because my ice were all melted and diluted the drink. The consequences of talking too much and too busy eating! LOL

Kitchen Twenty Three - Drinks
Plum and Sour (RM5), Caffe Cappuccino (RM8.50), Cafe Latter (RM8.50) and Green Tea Latte (RM8.50) clockwise from the top left photo.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Crispy Nestum Golden Fish
To be frank, I underestimated this Crispy Nestum Golden Fish as it doesn't look like those typical one and even the aroma of Nestum was not there too. But the crispiness of the fish was surprisingly there, and with a bit of the cheese sauce, it makes it quite appetizing.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Grilled BK Pepper Chicken Thigh (RM12)
I like their Grilled BK Pepper Chicken Thigh mainly because I'm a chicken chop person! Deboned, tender juicy chicken thigh, grilled well with the black pepper sauce. I would recommend this! In fact, I am already looking forward for my next visit for this! =D

Kitchen Twenty Three - Cheese Baked Fried Rice (RM14.50)
The Cheese Baked Fried Rice is one of the nicest among all that we had tried too. The fried rice was just nice without sticking to each other, not too dry or too mushy, just perfect to cover with a layer of cheese. There were also prawns and cherry tomatoes to make it more tasty!

Kitchen Twenty Three - Egg & Cheese Fish Fillet (RM13)
Not too fond with this Egg & Cheese Fish Fillet mainly because it's a bit weird matching for me. Basically it's like Nasi Goreng Pattaya minus the nasi goreng and replaced with fish fillet.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Combo Six (RM32)
Kitchen Twenty Three's Combo Six comes with grilled lamb, grilled steak, fish fillet, sausage, grilled chicken chop and egg. Quite a worthy big combo to order if you would like to try each of everything!

Kitchen Twenty Three - Cordon Bleu (RM15.50)
Well usually Cordon Bleu had the cheese hidden inside but Kitchen Twenty Three's place it on top. I can't tell which one is better, but a slice of cheese on top is definitely not enough for a cheese lover to get hold of it.

Kitchen Twenty Three - French Cheese Toast (RM7.50)
French Cheese Toast? Wow, that's rare for me! Personally, I think it's too moist or I should say wet? lol But don't worry, it was not as oily as the photo shown, those were actually honey while the butter still yet to melt.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Great Healthy Salad (RM12)
If you don't wish to take heavy meal as dinner, Great Healthy Salad must be your top choice! Apart from all the colorful vegetables, the black sesame secret recipe sauce is the main thing to make the whole salad delicious. I'm not a salad person but this does make me feel like eating!

Kitchen Twenty Three @ Batu Maung Penang
Kitchen Twenty Three - Thai Style Spaghetti (RM14)
Thai Style Spaghetti comes with special sauce cooked with prawn, cuttlefish and onion. Another nice one that I would not mind to eat again! Basically, it is just like Tom Yum with Spaghetti but somehow it taste better than normal Tom Yum Noodle. Which is also why Kitchen Twenty Three write it "special sauce", some secret recipe that could not be revealed! LOL

Kitchen Twenty Three - Double Belgium Cake (RM10.50)
The Double Belgium Chocolate cake was really a huge portion with thick and firm Belgium chocolate texture, not overly sweet but a bit too dry. Nevertheless, chocolate lover would love to have this to end their dinner.

Kitchen Twenty Three - Tiramisu (RM10.50)

Kitchen Twenty Three - Suitable for family gathering as well
Personally, I think it's wise for them to open in Batu Maung as there isn't many competition in the area currently. Lunch definitely is not a problem as workers around Bayan Lepas would go over. But, dinner, especially on the weekend, I just wondered if it is still that much of crowds. However, Batu Maung is the next booming place, constructions are going very fast, so in the long run it would not be a problem anymore.

Go give it a try!
Call for reservation first to avoid disappointment!

  3. Wowwwwww!!!! Everything looks stunningly awesome. Not in the city centre - I wouldn't be able to go and check this place out then if I go to Penang - taxis are so so so expensive, those daylight robbers, simply refused to use meter...RM15 to anywhere in the city centre, even if it was from one end of Penang Road to the other end. :(
