Less than half month until Christmas, have you decided where to celebrate? This year Eastin Hotel Penang showcases its Christmas Buffet promotion that offers a mouth-watering buffet spread with extensive range of traditional delicacies.

Same like many years before, truly thanks to Eastin Hotel Penang for the invitation to sample their Christmas buffet dinner. This year with the new Executive Chef on board, Chef Alex Leong, we witnessed a total different way in setting up the Christmas menu. Certainly a great change! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Unlike the previous year, Chef Alex Leong prepared a variety of appetizers which include cold meat platters, cold fish platters, salad with assorted dressings, cheese and even canapes! Some of those that really caught my attention are Lamb Rillettes, Cheese Yule Log, Vanilla-scented Scallop Escabeche, Gimbab and Buckwheat Blinis with Shrimp with Sour Cream. 

For the main dishes, Chef Alex made it all colorful this year with the edible flowers. The available mouth watering dishes are Braised Beef Ribs with Sweet Blueberry Chutney and Smoked Hickory BBQ Glaze, Shoulder of Lamb, Peperonata Red Lentils and Black Pepper Jus, Poached Salmon with Asparagus and Mornay sauce, Grilled Tiger Prawns with Ratatouille Vegetables and Salsa Verde, Duck Leg Confit, Flageolet Beans Au Orange and Buttered Chestnut Brussels sprouts.

Braised Beef Ribs is my favorite! 

One of the main highlight for Christmas has to be the Roasted Turkey. Eastin Hotel Penang offers Festive Roast Turkey with Giblet Sauce and 3 type of bread stuffing. The turkey is also available at RM338 nett per whole bird starting from 1-23 December. Just be sure to order at least 2 days in advance! 

What surprised me the most was the Rock Salt Baked Crusted Whole Salmon! So far Eastin Hotel Penang is the only hotel that I saw serving this in Penang. Together at the Festive Oven counter, Roasted Roots Vegetables and Porcini Cream is available too.

Chef Alex definitely wow-ed us with many surprise addition, such as the Christmas Burritos with the filling of Turkey Cha Siew, Avocado, Mango, Cucumber and Chipotle Cranberry Compote. To make you more fulfilling, a huge plate of New Orleans Jambalaya with prawns and peppers.  

To end the festive feast on a sweet note, assorted dessert are available. To name a few, Traditional Xmas Pudding, Mini Mince Pie, Assorted Xmas Cookies, Raspberry Yule Log, Mini Strawberry Cheese Cake, Walnut Cream Pie, Fresh Fruit Tart, English Fruit Cake, Mini White Chocolate Brownies and Tropical Fruits Bar.

Overall, I think the buffet in Eastin Hotel Penang this year were being prepared delicately, a lot different from the previous year.
