Zi Zai Restaurant - Iced Longan |
We went there not just to try out the crossover dish - Gartien Crystal Pineapple Sweet & Sour Pork (Gu Lou Yok), but also a gathering with the bosses as well as other bloggers. Nicole from Nicole's Homemade Delicacies was there too with her Crystal Pineapple Cheese Cake which using Gartien's pineapple confiture. The crystal pineapple certainly plays an important role in the cheese cake by adding extra sweet and tangy flavor.

Gartien Crossover Dish - Gartien Crystal Pineapple Sweet & Sour Pork (Gu Lou Yok) |
Sweet & Sour Pork or more commonly known as Gu Lou Yok, is always a famous dish as it is very appetizing. So instead of using raw pineapple, Zi Zai Restaurant uses Gartien pineapple confiture, whereby the essence of the pineapple is easily being absorbed by the meat. Hence, making the Gu Lou Yok very flavorful and mouthwatering.

Zi Zai Restaurant - Chung Ling Scrambled Egg |
Besides the crossover dish, Zi Zai Restaurant also served us with its other signature dishes. The first one was this Chung Ling Scrambled Egg. Unlike typical scrambled egg, Chung Ling style scrambled egg is in runny but smooth form, with chili added to make it reddish, definitely tasty to go with a big bowl of rice! Gosh, I was feeling nostalgic for this memorable dish back in high school. Yup, the boss of Zi Zai Restaurant was student of Chung Ling High School too! I could still remember the stall selling this Chung Ling Scrambled Egg was at the last lot of that row, which mainly selling those economic fried noodle, bihun and koay teow.

Zi Zai Restaurant - Poon Choi |
Another famous dish from Zi Zai Restaurant would be their Poon Choi or also known as pot of treasure. Pot of treasure, literally means most of the expensive ingredients could be found in the pot, such as abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and so on. Which is why it is usually being served during special occasion such as Chinese New Year, but don't be surprised if you find Zi Zai Restaurant serving it whole year long. So you know where to find if you are looking for one during non-festive period. ;) (Please do remember to call for reservation first)

Zi Zai Restaurant - Asam Prawns |
|
Zi Zai Restaurant - Granny Fried Chicken |
Overall, the food was above average. Reading back my
old post on Zi Zai Restaurant, I still have the same verdict whereby I'm still lazy to eat the small soft shell lala! LOL The granny fried chicken still as appetizing as before.
