If you haven't, you should give it a try; if you had, you should go to try their delicious new menu selections! Taiwan Bull has just launched their New Menu on 30th June 2015, and they even changed all their tableware. Let me show you their new dishes that we have tried.

Oh wait, before I show you the food, you might want to take a look on this promotion for Watsons member card holder. Free drinks, dessert and additional 5% off total bill? Seems like quite worth huh (another reason for you to go to try their foods :D).

The passionate owners of Taiwan Bull introduced us their new homemade Sour Plum Juice, this drink can be served hot or cold and is equally good in either way. This sweet and sour drink was so appetizing, I love it's red colour. The size of the cups are not due to the angle issue, their serving size are big in real, and the cup is cute right?

Taiwan Bull has added a few types of Taiwanese snack and we tried 5 of them. This Chilled Crunchy Cucumber is a refreshing dish, suitable for those weight-conscious people. It is served with their special sesame sauce, somehow I thought I was eating Satay..LOL.
Chilled Crunchy Cucumber 凉拌小黄瓜 (RM 6) |
Another option for healthy babies, Bok Choy with stewed ground pork was not overly greasy, it will be good to eat together with a bowl of rice or noodles!
Bok Choy 烫青江菜 (RM 6 / RM 8) |
This is Lo Mai Gai (糯米鸡)? Bak Chang (粽子)? Nope, you are wrong, although the texture of this Rice Tube Pudding (筒仔米糕) is quite similar to them. The ingredients include chicken mince and nuts, it is advisable to eat together with the unique sauce served together as this dish itself was a bit plain.
Rice tube pudding 筒仔米糕 (RM 11.90) |
红油 is spicy red oil while 炒手 means ravioli or dumpling. For those who love dumplings, you might want to try this Spicy Oil Chinese Dumpling. The skin of the dumpling was thin and the overall texture was good. You can control how much vinegar and red oil you want to add into this dish according to your own preference.
Spicy Oil Chinese Dumpling 红油炒手 (RM7.90) |
You might thought this is the famous Taiwanese fried chicken (咸酥鸡), but this is not. This "Nan Ru" Fermented Bean Chicken (豆乳鸡) is relatively rare in Penang, but you can get it at Taiwan Bull! We like the juicy-tender chicken with crispy outer layer, some said it tastes better than 咸酥鸡, I think both are equally good.
"Nan Ru" Fermented Bean Chicken 豆乳鸡 (RM8.90) |
Highly recommended Tomato Beef Noodle at Taiwan Bull! It may be look spicy as it is red in colour, but it doesn't even taste a little spicy, the red colour is tomato soup! I don't take beef but Henry Darling said this quintessential Taiwanese Beef Noodle is the best addition of their new menu. He said the tomato soup was so flavourful and the beef was tender and well-marinated, it was superbly good! Aww.. can they make a non-beef version for me to try too?
Tomato Beef Noodle 茄汁牛肉面 (RM 18.50) |
"Sha Cha" Sauce (沙茶) is made from dried shrimp, shallots, soybean oil, brill fish, chili, and garlic. Henry darling commented this "Sha Cha" Beef Fried Noodle was a bit plain, the flavour of this dish is mainly from the beef.

Here comes the mains with rice! We ate lots of rice that night, and their serving size are big, I don't think small-eater girls can finish one bowl of their rice alone. Braised Roasted Pork Rib Rice comes with the delectable braised egg and Taiwanese pickles. The pork rib was well-marinated and seasoned, its sauce matched perfectly with the white rice.
Braised Roasted Pork Rib Rice 滷排骨饭 (RM 17.50) |
From the outlook and even the taste, Fried Pork Rib Rice is very much similar to Braised Roasted Pork Rib Rice, just the way of cooking the pork rib is different, one is roasted another one is deep fried. For those who like fried stuffs, perhaps you will prefer this more.
Fried Pork Rib Rice 炸排骨饭 (RM 17.50) |
Okay, enough for the pork, you can also opt for Crispy Fish Fillet Rice, it comes with a clear soup. The Dory fish is deep fried into perfect golden colour while it was still juicy and tender inside. I think this is Taiwanese style Fish & Chips, suitable for those who prefer rice more than chips. The fish was good, just that I would prefer to have more sauce on the rice.
Crispy Fish Fillet Rice 炸鱼排饭 (RM 17.50) |
"Jia Yi" Chicken Rice is very famous in Taiwan, but I never tried it in Taiwan although I have already traveled to Taiwan as much as 5 times. According to the boss, the authentic "Jia Yi" Chicken Rice uses Turkey mince, but they chose to use chicken mince. The main sauces for this dish are Scallion Oil and Chicken Oil, if you like the boiled chicken (白斩鸡) which selling at chicken rice stores, perhaps you would like this too, as it taste quite alike.
"Jia Yi" Chicken Rice 嘉义鸡肉饭 (RM 14.50) |
This aromatic Three-Cup Chicken Rice was full of the fragrant of basil, this dish can be very good or bad to different people. If you are those who like the fragrant of basil, then you would like this, on contrary, this dish might hard to be accepted by those who don't like basil. Although you can see the red chili on the chicken, but it wasn't spicy.
Three-Cup Chicken Rice 三杯鸡饭 (RM 17.50) |
Among all the new menu selections, I like this Honey Roasted Chicken Thigh Rice the most! The grilled drumstick was marinated into perfection! Besides, this juicy Honey Roasted Chicken has a unique scent that seems like Litchi (荔枝). However, as for the sides, I personally prefer the braised egg and Taiwanese pickles of the pork rice.
Honey Roasted Chicken Thigh Rice 蜜汁鸡腿饭 (RM 17.50) |
This is cute right? Taiwan Bull has a fun Kid's Menu, where the kids can match their dish by themselves. They can pick a main dish, a snack and a side dish from a list of the choices according to their liking, with the same price. And every Kid's Menu is comes with a dessert and a Yakult drink.
Kid's Happy Meal 儿童套餐 (RM 14.90) |
Finally, Taiwanese desserts! Mango Frozie is a bowl of blended ice topped with mango cubes, mango sauce and a scoop of mango ice-cream. The mango is sweet but in overall, this dessert wasn't overly sweet, this is best for hot days!
Mango Frozie 芒果冰 (RM 8.50) |
You can try their Ai Yu Jelly Frozie which is also a popular dessert in Taiwan. The sweetness is come from the mixture of fruits which comprising of honeydew, watermelon and mango, whereas the sourish is from the lemon. This was so refreshing!
Ai Yu Jelly Frozie 鲜果爱玉冰 (RM 7.50) |
