Counting down to Ramadhan 2015, let us bring you to have a glance on the Ramadhan Buffet at Vistana Hotel Penang and we will tell you what are the dishes we fancy! Well, last year we posted about their "Tok Wan 101 Recipes Ramadhan Buffet", we are glad that it was one of our top posts of the year 2014. This year although with the same grandmother theme, Vistana Hotel Penang have added more authentic Malay elements into their dishes, which we think it would be loved by our Malay friends :D
For the breaking of the Daily Fast or ‘Buka Puasa’
The ambience of the dinning area was so cool as there was live performance with instruments like violin and traditional Malay drums.
Too bad we forgot to snap photo of the instrument live performance, but we had taken a photo of the live performance of tossing murtabak dough :P
Unlike previous year, this time they presented their main dishes in several big woks, which I think is so spectacular!
Vistana Hotel Penang offer a wide arrange of food selections. Firstly, let's take a closer look at these mouthwatering main dishes.
There are also some Malay style local snack stores such as Cockles with Chili Sauce, Rojak, Pasembur, Asam Laksa and Fried Kuay Teow. I guess this is the only hotel serving cockles as one of their buffet dishes. Henry Darling thinks it is fun to open the little shells one by one, and good to me, I got to eat cockles without needing to open it by myself :D
Asam Laksa was our favourite of that night, the laksa soup itself was so flavourful and the chef got the balance of the spicy and sour well, it was very well-seasoned. If you happened to visit there, remember to get a bowl for yourself, it worth the space of your stomach ;)
We all find their Char Koay Teow looks so appealing, however we were disappointed by its taste, as it was a bit plain to our liking, though they are generous with the prawns.
Similar to last year, there are BBQ corner, but due to overwhelming response from previous customers, this time Vistana Hotel Penang makes this BBQ section Bigger!
As usual, Vistana Hotel Penang offers numerous types of appetizers, salads, fruits, and desserts.
Their colourful desserts caught our eyes! There were so many types of traditional Malay kuih-muih set upon our eyes, I was having a hard time thinking which to choose, as I was already very full at that time but all desserts looks yummy!
After the struggle, I finally made up my mind and here're my selections! I wonder what would you choose if you were there? :)
You could see how much we actually ate on that night. Our big table was full of food! And this is just our first round, we all had several rounds!
