Mooncake Tasting & 3D Lantern Making Workshop @ Hotel Jen Penang

Mid-Autumn Festival is coming~ Have you get ready with your lantern and mooncakes? Firstly, let me start with the mooncakes. Hotel Jen Penang is introducing 4 new varieties which comprising of Double Yolk White Lotus, Black Sesame Paste with Custard Paste, Chocolate Paste with Macadamia and Walnut, and Latte Paste with Orange Paste. 

Among these 4 new varieties, we personally fancy Chocolate Macadamia more, the smooth texture and rich chocolate nutty flavour make a great modern style mooncake. 

Other than these 4 varieties, there are another 4 types of mooncakes, namely Single Yolk White Lotus, Green Tea, White Coffee Paste with Pure Durian Paste, and the highly recommended Farmer's Grown which made of healthy ingredients such as sesame, walnut, rolled oat, sunflower seeds, etc. Most of the people who attended that day including us, had a good comment on Farmer's Grown. 

I am a green tea lover, and I personally think their Green Tea Mooncake suits my appetite too, it is not overly sweet and I can feel the scent of green tea on every bite, you should try it if you like green tea too :D

Right after the mooncake tasting session, it's time for the 3D lantern making! Each of us was given a lantern which has already pre-molded in Butterfly design, what we need to do was just to add some colours and make it our very own butterfly lantern. And then we started to paint our butterfly with water colours.

Really hard to recall how many years ago I made my own lantern for Mid-Autumn Festival! Thanks to Hotel Jen Penang it was truly a good opportunity for me and Henry Darling to have a back-to-childhood time together. As we didn't know each other while we were young, this session has brought us back together as we were telling each other lots of funny childhood memories about ourselves which we never remembered to tell. 

And so, our grandmother's stories were lasting for around 2 hours, and we had finally completed our very own butterfly lanterns :D I'm quite satisfied with our paintings, what says you? :)

Anyway, our lanterns are not for sale :P Alright, back to mooncakes, Hotel Jen Penang is selling all their mooncakes at the same price, RM 30 nett per piece. But you could get it at RM 24 nett per piece for the Early Bird Offer between July 26 till August 31, 2015!
