San Francisco is one of the most gorgeous
cities on earth. It is well worth a visit, regardless of what your budget is. There
are many great things to do in the city, including those listed here on https://www.ifonly.com/things-to-do-in-san-francisco and more. Check out some of the best sights and sounds in this
beautiful city and experience it like no other.
Walk Across the Bridge
The Golden
Gate Bridge is possibly one of the greatest tourist sites in the city. It is
famous across the US and the world for being a marvelous piece of engineering and artwork. Take a
walk across the bridge if you can – it is entirely free to do. Across the bridge lies the park and
the National Recreation Area, both of which offer hiking trails, scenic views,
and the Walt Disney Family Museum, which is very affordable indeed.
Go to Crissy Field
Located
close to the Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field can be found on the harbor side as you walk towards the
middle of the city. It is a park of sorts, with beaches, eateries, piers and
smaller parks within it. You can unwind here, playing Frisbee with your family
or going fishing in the bay. The Field is one of the most popular jogging and
dog-walking spots in the city too.
Witness Fine Art at the
Palace
If you are
a fan of fine art, the Palace of Fine Art is a must-see in the city. It is a
remnant of an international exposition from the early 1900s, designed with old
Roman architecture in mind. The outdoor area in this beautiful location has a
lagoon and a gorgeous view that is one of the most photographed in the city. You can picnic here, relax, or even
walk around the lagoon.
See the Horrors in
Alcatraz
The
Alcatraz Prison on the island in the bay is one of the most infamous prisons in
the world. The worst of the worst in the US were taken here for incarceration. While
it went defunct in the ‘70s, the prison buildings are still in complete working
condition and open to the public. You don’t even have to pay to go to the
prison, although the boat trip there will cost you.
Eat Out in San Francisco
Fisherman’s
Wharf is probably one of the most famous of the city blocks lining the bay in San
Francisco. The area covered by the wharf, Pier 39, and others are filled with
tourists drawn to the excellent cuisine offered at the restaurants here. While
they are way overpriced, they are still worth a visit if only to watch life
pass by. Be sure to buy a model of the Bridge at one of the many souvenir shops
here.
San
Francisco isn’t referred to as one of the best cities to visit in the USA for
nothing. It is a diverse city filled with history and culture. The people are
incredibly friendly and ensure that you will never run out of things to talk
about and placed to see.
