\EPF Declares 6% High Dividend for 2011

Henry Tan | 8:14 PM | | | | 12 Comments so far
Good news to the employees! =D
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) board has declared a dividend rate of 6% for 2011!

"It's the highest in the last 10 years!"

Compare to 2010 which is just 5.8%, increased by 20 basis point.
Translates to a 24.47 billion being distributed to the members.
Below is the table for the allocation of the fund.

As you can see from the table,
Equities were the largest income contributor at RM13.29 million (48.841%).
Personally I think it is quite impressive especially a lot uncertainties in the economic.

Comparing to the past 10 years, it's the highest!
But of course, you could observe that it reaches the peak when it is the election year. =p
Well, one thing good for the employee is that...
the CPI (consumer price index) and FD (fixed deposit) were kept low at 3%.

Meaning your money in EPF...

"Still got 3% interest despite of inflation!"

But this is just a rough estimation.
Anyhow, as long as it is high,
We should be happy already! =D

Standing Egg? Li Chun? Myth Busted!

Henry Tan | 3:50 PM | | | | 13 Comments so far
I believe most of you same as me!
Seeing everyone posting eggs in Facebook etc right?

I highly doubted the prediction of exact time at 6.22pm!

And I bet most of you just follow and have a try right? =p
Well, there's no harm to try!
But how many of you actually go find out the reasons?

Why the egg stands?

Well, I do.
I'm the person that will ask you 10Qs for your one statement.
*I'm scary and I know it*
Before that, let me tell you a little about Li Chun.

" Li Chun is the official first day of spring
which usually falls on February 4 or 5
- quoted from wikipedia.

So here are some of the information I found. =)
1. You can balance an egg at any day of the year.
Probably because you never try it on any other day so you assume it could only happen at Li Chun.
According to Martin Gardner,

"if you are convinced that an egg will balance more easily on a certain day you will try a little harder, be more patient, and use steadier hands. If you believe that eggs won't balance on other days, this belief is transmitted subconsciously to your hands"

And of course it is also been proven by experiments from people around the world.
They try it on any other day and the egg still could stands.

They can even balanced it at the short ends!

2. The egg can stands because...
This is a little tricky and complicated.
As till now, there's no particular theory that can totally proven the mechanism.
However, there are many explanation been made which you could check it here.
But one thing for sure, there's nothing to do with the date.

"Gravitational andelectromagnetic forces, in particular,
are considerably weaker and steadier than the disturbances
created by the person's breathing and heartbeat."
- quoted from wikipedia

 Conclusion:

Well, there are some of my friends who can't make the egg stands either. XD

So moral of the story:

You will achieve when you believe!

In fact, it is like that, isn't it?
When you believe yourself, you will do it with all your heart.
When you do it with your heart, you will be determined and patience.
That sums up to a successful achievement. ;)

End this post with a motivation song for you readers. =)

STOMP 2011 @ Plenary Hall, KLCC

Henry Tan | 11:55 PM | | | 1 Comment so far
Okay, let me guess.
Your first question would be...

"What's STOMP?"

"STOMP is unique musical theatre of choreographed percussion, movement and physical comedy, with shows worldwide. "

Okay, perhaps pictures will be better.

Yup! They are superb! =DD

I went there to work as usher! =D

The ushers. =D

One of the task: Stand there welcome people! XD

See! Got me = got crowds! LOL =X

The merchandise counter.

Selling all these. *expensive* =.=
Programme : RM30
Cap : RM25
Lanyard : RM15
T-Shirt : RM50

 The stage. =D

Well, no one can actually take photos or record video of the performance.
So too bad, can't share with you all how awesome it is~!!!
And one good thing of being the crew....

Can take group photos with all of them! =D

During my 2 days of part time, I get to watch 4 shows in total!
And guess what, the ticket isn't cheap at all!
Cheapest student price also RM78! =S
So yeah, kinda worth to work there! =DDD

Well, and so they continue their world tour.
Hopefully when they come back again, I will be rich enough to go. =p

Pepsi Rumors? True o False?

Henry Tan | 9:48 PM | | 7 Comments so far
I believe recently most of you have seen the rumors of Pepsi.
Which is something like this...

` Dear all , plz do not drink any drink which produced from pepsi company.

Such as pepsi, tropicana juice, 7up, slide, coca cola and etc. Due to one of the worker from the company has added his blood contaminated with HIV. May refer to news at NDTV.

Please forward to person u care :)

But... After some search in the internet...
Let me show you what I found...

1. No such news in NDTV.

2. Truth about HIV Transmission.
According to Centre for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC)...

HIV does not live long outside the body. Even if small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen was consumed, exposure to the air, heat from cooking, and stomach acid would destroy the virus. Therefore, there is no risk of contracting HIV from eating food.

3. Just a prank circulation rumors.
According to urbanlegends.about.com...

Different versions of the same rumor have made the rounds before, in 2004 and 2007-08. In those previous cases the food products allegedly contaminated with HIV-positive blood were ketchup and tomato sauce, but the status of the rumor was the same: false.

Conclusion?
It's totally absurd!
So I would like to use the famous word from MythBusters.

It is sad that people misuses social networking.
But who to blame?

People who share it or people who create it?

People whom share it...

"Being caring or pure naive?"

Well, that leaves to you to decide.
But one thing for sure...

Be smart next time,
ask google to find out the truth first! =D

Always remember...

Picture of the Day

Henry Tan | 4:47 PM | | | 7 Comments so far
I found something that annoyed me so much!
I know you might saw this in a lot of places.
But one thing I could not accept...

"It happens in PENANG!"

My beloved Penang you know!

See this.

Rubbish right below the signboard.

"RIDICULOUS!!!"

If you observed carefully,
those rubbish are like paper plates etc.

So yes,
I suspected that house!

For me, it is okay if you throw inside the plastic bag and tied it properly.
But those outside of plastic bag and even on top of the rubbish bin?
Of course, I don't deny the possibility that some other people dump there too.
Or you could even blame the stray dogs that messed up. *which unlikely it is*
But...
What the heck!

"They can't read is it?"

4 languages you know!

"Unless you are blind?!"

Ohya, or maybe hilariously you would say...
The sign in English is saying...

"Fine for littering?"

So is okay to litter? =.=
And you blame the signboard misleading?

Whatever it is,
I really hope that the community in Jalan Merican will be more considerate.

"Make Penang a beautiful place to stay!"

Okay?
